Frequently Asked Questions about our Online Course

How long do I have to complete the online course?
You have 12 weeks to complete the online portion of the course. If you go beyond the 12 weeks, you will need to contact us and request additional time. There may be an additional charge.

How many sections are there and how do I test?
There are 4 sections, Rules of the Road, Deck General, Navigation General, and Chart Navigation. Each section has a quiz you must pass before you can continue to the next section. After completing all sections, there is an online final you must pass. Once you have completed the course, you will be able to schedule the Final Exam at one of our USCG approved locations.

Where are the test locations?
At the present time testing is available at any of our USCG approved locations. We are continually adding more locations.

What is the cost?
The cost of the course and testing is $ 795.00

Will I receive any course materials?
Yes, you will receive a course book, reference publications, and training charts.

What kind of help is available?
You will receive a special email address so that one of our USCG approved instructors can receive and answer your question; or they will be more than happy to call you.

How do I sign up?
You can sign up online using PayPal, there is registration form you will submit with your information and then it will take you to the PayPal site.
To pay with a credit card you can call us with your personal information and credit card information.

To pay with a check or money order you can print out the registration form and mail it along with your payment.

How soon am I able to start the course?
You will be able to start as soon as you receive your course materials and Log On information from us.

What license will I receive from the Coast Guard?
This is determined by the U.S. Coast Guard evaluator based on your personal qualifications. This course does meet the testing requirement for up to a Master’s Near Coastal 100 Gross Ton License. Please see the Basic License Requirements on this site. 

If I don’t want a USCG License can I still take the course?
Yes. We have a lot of students that take our course just for the knowledge.

Do you offer the sailing and towing endorsements online?
Yes we do. The cost for each is $100.00. As with all our online course you must test at one of our USCG approved locations.
