UPGRADE MASTER 100 TONS TO MASTER 200 TONS (ONLINE)

To apply for an upgrade from Master 100 Tons to Master/Mate 200 Tons, you must meet the USCG requirements. The requirements checklist can be found on the USCG National Maritime Center website www.dco.uscg.mil/nmc/checklist/. PLEASE NOTE: This course does NOT satisfy examination requirements to upgrade from Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) to Master/Mate 200 Tons.
You have up to 4 weeks to complete the online course starting on the date that Maritime Institute sends you your course log-in email. As with all our online courses, this is done at your own pace. When you are finished with the online course you will take your proctored USCG Approved final exam IN-PERSON at one of our approved locations. Our final exam testing locations are currently only in: Alameda and San Diego, CA; Honolulu, HI; Norfolk, VA; Homer, AK. We test by appointment only.
Upon successful completion of the final exam, you will receive a course Certificate of Training that is valid for 1 year to be submitted to the USCG to apply for the upgrade.

Any applicant who has successfully completed your Upgrade Master 100 Tons to Master 200 Tons (Near Coastal) (MARINS-527) course and presents your Certificate of Training within one year of the completion of training, will satisfy the examination requirements for upgrade of a merchant mariner endorsement from Master not more than 100 gross registered tons (or self propelled vessels of less than 100 gross registered tons) Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters to Master or Mate of self propelled vessels of less than 200 gross tons Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters. The course completion certificate issued upon successful completions of this course is valid for one application which results in the issuance of an endorsement (s) and may not be used for future application transactions.
