Serco Inc. is looking for a highly motivated individual with a technical/engineering background as an Able Body Seaman who has experience working with Unmanned Experimental Systems (UXV) to join our Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) team supporting Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Port Hueneme. This position supports a broad portfolio of Autonomous Maritime System (AMS) programs in the Ventura County Naval Base Port Hueneme geographic region onboard a fast-growing local team.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your Secret level DoD Clearance.
The Able Body Seaman assists in Vessel navigation, cargo handling and other Deck operations. He is responsible for employing, maintaining, and repairing deck department equipment. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reports to Program manger under supervision of the Vessel Officers. This position will be onsite in Port Hueneme, CA.
In this role, you will:
Assist in navigation of the vessel
Provide cargo handling and other Deck operations,
Will perform scheduled and corrective maintenance in the Deck Department
Conduct routine and corrective maintenance of Deck Department equipment, automated control systems, and other auxiliary systems.
Assist with integration, testing, field installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment and systems.
Provide sound and seasoned technical judgement that follows company policies and procedures in meeting customer obligations.
Assist with at-sea UXVsing of UXVs and associated payload, including test plan development, test execution, and post-test analysis.
Ability to problem solve during high stress environments such as field testing in austere conditions.
Travel and at-sea watch standing will be required.
To be successful in the role, you will need:
High School Diploma with 1+ years’ experience as an Able Body Seaman or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.
USCG AB Unlimited Certification
An active Secret Level DoD clearance is required to be considered.
A current valid U.S. passport is required.
Experience in maritime operations to include unmanned surface vessels, and unmanned underwater vehicles is desired.
Proficient in the use of common hand and power-driven tools.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
Able to work with minimum supervision under a variety of conditions.
Minimum 25% travel CONUS/OCONUS
