FAST RESCUE BOAT (FRB)

Learn how to handle and take charge of fast rescue boats during or after launch in adverse weather and sea conditions. Trainees will know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signaling equipment between the rescue boat and a helicopter and the ship, and how to carry out search patterns.
 
To obtain a Fast Rescue Boat endorsement in your Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), the USCG National Maritime Center requirements state that you must hold an endorsement in Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) or Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Lifeboats and Fast Rescue Boats-Limited (PSC-Limited), AND Provide evidence of successful completion of a Coast-Guard approved or accepted FRB course that meets the standard of competence specified in Table A-VI/2 of the STCW Code.
 
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Fast Rescue Boat (MARINS-193) course will satisfy the Fast Rescue Boat training requirements of 46 CFR 12.617(a)(3); AND the Fast Rescue Boat standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.617(a)(4); STCW Code Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-2, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 05-14(Ch-1) all Tasks. Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present completed “Task Control Sheets” for these assessments in application for STCW certification.
