Background of the development of legislative requirements certificates and documents required by international conventions responsibilities under the relevant requirements of the International Convention on load lines. Responsibilities under the relevant requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. Responsibilities under the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, and the Protocol of 1978 relating thereto (MARPOL 73/78), Maritime Declarations of Health and the requirements of the international health regulations. Responsibilities under other international maritime law embodied in international agreements and conventions that impact on the role of management level deck officers. Responsibilities under international Instruments affecting the safety of the ship, passengers, crew and cargo. Methods and aids to prevent pollution of the marine environment by ships. National legislation for implementing international agreements and conventions. International instruments affecting the ship and crew. National legislation to implement international conventions. Documents required at arrival and departure.
