CUSTOM LINE HANDLING TRAINING

Course Description
This custom course of instruction will include both classroom and practical application of safe shipboard mooring line handling. It will emphasize professional and safe line handling to include securing lines to bitts and bollards, utilization of various lines to assist with docking and undocking a vessel, and inspection of lines prior to and in use. Visual inspections will focus on line inspection for line deterioration, excessive wear, abrasion, discoloration, stiffness, burnt or glossy areas and changes in line diameter. Additional personnel safety considerations including not to stand in a line's bight, not use one's foot to hold a line in place and avoid the dangerous snap back zone. Terminology will include fore and aft, head line, stern line, breast lines, and spring lines forward and aft.
Class Requirements
Cost per session is $1,250 and includes up to nine students. If for example, nine students attend, each student registration must be modified to cost $138.89. If for example, only eight student attend, each student registration must be modified to $156.25.
Student attire will include self provided hard hats, reflective vests and appropriate footwear.
