OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)
Responsible for executing field service, commissioning and troubleshooting on board of vessels. Work on international service jobs requested by Global Marine Service Coordinator.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):
Executing service jobs on board of vessels assigned by ”Global Marine Service Coordinator”.
Diagnosing, solving and reporting of solutions and improvements to definitively solve the problem even when third party equipment or installations are involved.
Full autonomy in troubleshooting on board in all harbors in the region. If needed, sailing with a ship until problem is solved.
Ability to handle all major products and applications at least within one BU.
Installation support and inspection to newly installed PureBallast equipment onboard
Commissioning of new Ballast water treatment systems
Recommissioning of existing Ballast water treatment systems
Do compliance service that includes filter inspection / cleaning and water sampling on existing PureBallast equipment
PLC / Instrumentation and Control knowledge.
Ability and proactivity to get central help or direct networking contacts and to report the findings to the rest of the team in order to keep colleagues informed.
Qualified service to our client’s equipment. Relations to customers and crew. Reporting as per guidelines.
Execute Performance Audits (internally).
Review of SOPs and create SOPs.
Technical support to Global Technical Specialist as well as to the Global Coordinator in the region.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:
Marine engineer, or equivalent boiler, fuel and control system equipment experience.
Fluent English, verbal and written.
Type and Length of Experience: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:
Knowledge of CRM systems, planning tools and data base handling
Electrical and Automation knowledge minimum EPC 50/60 / boiler controllers
Ability to work outside normal working hours.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment use):
• Must be physically capable to work in a vessel engine room environment and climbing ladders and standing for hours is required.
• Being able to work at all times of the day.
• Being able to board ship from pilot boat and climb rope ladder to go onboard.
Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure): Ship engine room temperature and in local areas exceed 60 degree C (140 degree F). • Engineers will primarily be working in the field on ship and in some case on land based equipment, from time to time engineers will also be required to work in the local Alfa Laval office.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (i.e., travel, motor vehicle use, etc.)
Being able to travel domestically and internationally. Expected travel day annually: approx 120-180 days.
