Our base of operations in Little Creek is one of more than 20 franchise locations across the country. We offer sailboat memberships, certified sailing courses and day charters on our fleet of 11 boats which range in size from 22 foot Catalina Capris up to 45 foot sailing catamarans.

We are seeking part time marine mechanics with 3 to 5 years experience maintaining recreational sailboats and power boats.

We are interested in self-starters with the initiative and drive to help keep our fleet in top operating condition. The position of mechanic requires a professional attitude with strong work ethics and excellent communication skills. The successful mechanic creates and maintains effective relationships with other SailTime staff, interacts with our members and customers, and follows through to complete daily assignments effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. This position needs individuals who are well organized, detail-oriented and takes the initiative to readily identify, diagnose and resolve maintenance related issues. Applicants should be knowledgeable and skilled in the service and maintenance of shipboard systems. Our mechanics are tasked to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to inboard diesel engines and outboard gasoline engines, servicing and changing pumps and filters, maintaining marine electrical and electronics; tuning and servicing the running and standing rigging; and annual hull/bottom maintenance.

Boat handling skills and a Virginia Boater Safety Education Certificate (or NASBLA approved equivalent) are required as mechanics are occasionally tasked to move boats between slips or to the nearby dock for refueling and pump out.
