“Doc” joined Maritime Institute in 2008 after 24 years in the Navy. He trained in field medicine, operating room tech and as a crew member in CH-46’s with the Marines. He served a ground combat tour with USMC in Vietnam receiving a Purple Heart and Navy Comm with “V”. Doc supervised emergency rooms at MCAS New River and MCAS Cherry Point, NC and later completed 15 years as an Independent Duty Corpsman. He sailed in USS Myles C. Fox DD-829 and USS Canisteo AO-99. After retirement he supervised a medical clinic at Western Tidewater Regional Jail for 16 years. Joining Maritime Institute has given him a chance to teach others how to provide the best possible care for our maritime brothers and sisters at sea.
