200 Ton (or greater) MOT, endorsed for coastwise or oceans towing;

Responsible for the safety of the crew and vessel at all times;

Ensure all operations are in compliance with company policies and procedures;

Creating vessel passage and tow plans in accordance with company policies;

Coordinates repair and maintenance with vessel operations to minimize vessel downtime, loss of revenue and cost of repairs, while maintaining the professional operation and appearance of the vessel.;

Conduct regular inspections of all interior and exterior areas and report findings to Port Captain;

Ensure the Chief Engineer is maintaining vessel machinery in an efficient manner;

Investigate accidents/incidents to determine cause, and advise head office in best practices of operation to prevent recurrence of casualty or improper operations;

Ensure vessel maintains sufficient fuel, water, lube oil, and stores for the intended functions;

Ensure that all jobs are properly estimated and accurate purchase orders are issued;

Complete approved projects, track and manage daily work, and participate in inspections with regulatory agencies;

Maintain regulatory certificates and log books;

Conduct personnel reviews and mentor deck hands and Mates

Other tasks as assigned by the Port Captain
