The Role:
As a Boat Tour Operator, your role involves warmly welcoming and guiding guests on captivating tours, such as the Undersea Sub Expedition, Glass Bottom Boat, Discover Two Harbors, and the seasonal Flying Fish Voyage. Your responsibilities include ensuring a seamless experience for all guests. U.S. Coast Guard (U.S.C.G) Licensed Personnel exclusively handle the transportation of the vessels, emphasizing safety and enjoyment. With a focus on exceptional customer service and proficiency in a variety of tours, you will play a crucial part in delivering memorable and enjoyable maritime experiences for our guests.
Job Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for:
Safely operate and navigate the vessel, considering weather conditions and passenger safety.
Execute efficient mooring and unmooring procedures as needed.
Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and navigate according to established routes.
Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the vessel, conducting regular safety checks.
Coordinate with crew members and guests to facilitate smooth boarding and disembarking of passengers.
Monitor and manage fuel consumption, engine performance, and other operational aspects.
Communicate effectively with passengers, providing safety instructions and answering questions.
Take appropriate action in emergency situations, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew.
Maintain proper documentation, including logs, incident reports, and required certifications.
Stay updated on maritime industry trends, regulations, and safety standards.
Deliver from memory an informative narrative to our guests about the island’s marine life, history and ecology as set forth in the approved tour script guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
50 Ton USCG Master Near Coastal Captain’s License
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age
Able to speak to groups of guests up to 100 at a time
Education and/or Experience:
Highschool or GED Diploma.
Proficient in boat handling with a focus on safety and efficiency.
50 Ton USCG Master Near Coastal Captains License.
First aid and CPR certification (training provided).
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills to ensure a positive tour experience
Prior experience in a boating environment preferred.
Prior experience handling ropes and lines is preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, push and pull on a regular basis.
Must have full range of overhead motions and full hand dexterity.
Requires visual acuity and the ability to hear clearly to communicate with managers, coworkers and guests
Job Expectations regarding Scheduling:
This position requires a flexible schedule with shifts that consists of a rotating schedule of weekday and weekend shifts, including day, night, and holiday work hours.
