Engineering Technician III
Purpose:
Continental Tide has an immediate need for an Engineering Technician III who will be a key support to the West Fleet Services Group. The location of this position is in San Diego, CA.
Job Description:
Continental Tide is actively seeking an experienced Engineering Technician III. We are in search of an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our dynamic West Fleet Services Group. This role will involve contributing to various ship repair, modernization, and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaborate effectively with all levels of management and engineering personnel, offering valuable assistance and support in various tasks and assignments.
Assume a leadership role as the lead technician during shipboard repairs and AIT installation projects, ensuring smooth execution and successful outcomes.
Provide comprehensive technical, administrative, and operational oversight for assigned projects, including effective management of technical aspects and subcontractors.
Contribute to the development of technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task order documentation, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.
Utilize advanced measuring and diagnostic tools proficiently to assess and adjust electronic components as needed, ensuring optimal performance.
Conduct thorough ship checks and inspections, adhering to established procedures and standards to maintain quality and safety.
Demonstrate expertise in adjusting, repairing, and modifying systems based on Naval and Industry publications, leveraging extensive knowledge and experience.
Offer strategic planning insights and recommendations to clients regarding task workload and project management strategies.
Showcase proficiency in an industrial trade equivalent to Level III standards, exhibiting mastery in areas such as electrical work, mechanical tasks, pipefitting, and welding.
Perform precise calibration and alignment checks, implementing adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed to enhance system functionality.
Actively participate in customer meetings and shipyard production sessions, contributing valuable insights and solutions to project challenges.
Possess a deep understanding of industry concepts, practices, and NAVSEA Standard Items, applying this knowledge effectively to project tasks.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, leveraging experience and judgment to overcome obstacles and achieve project goals.
Provide guidance and direction to team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Report to supervisors or managers regularly, offering updates on project progress and seeking guidance as necessary.
Embrace creativity and innovation in approaching project tasks, demonstrating a willingness to explore new ideas and solutions.
Qualifications:
Must possess a high school, trade or vocational school degree
Over 10 years of extensive experience working as an engineering technician in relevant fields.
Possession of Engineering Technician I and II certifications or equivalent qualifications, demonstrating proficiency and expertise in the role.
Experience in Project Management and a strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
Completion of advanced technical, system, or manufacturer training programs, enhancing skills and knowledge in specific areas of expertise.
Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials
Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
Security Requirements:
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations.
Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional Travel- up t0 10% within and outside of the continental United States.
If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
