Brad was an SDPD officer from 1982 until 2015. He served with the SWAT unit from 1986 until retirement in 2015. During his time with the team, he was involved in hundreds of high-risk operations and numerous office-involved shootings.
Brad has instructed 20 SWAT academies, monthly SWAT training, developed and taught SDPD’s directed clearing program to all SDPD Sergeants and Lieutenants for SDPD’s in-service training division.
He is certified to teach dozens of firearms and tactical classes. The firearms portion of these certifications includes MP-5, AR-15, shotgun, handgun, less lethal, chemical agents, and pepper ball.
His tactical background and instruction history includes hostage rescue, barricaded suspect operations, react team operations, high-risk warrant operations, vehicle assaults, bus assaults, rappelling, stairwell clearing, directed clearing, covert clearing, brake and rakes, dynamic clearing and flash bangs.
Brad has received numerous awards and commendations. When not working for Maritime Institute he enjoys physical fitness and resides in Rancho San Diego with his wife Teri.
