Welcomed aboard in 2023, Brian Hennessy is the Regional Manager for Maritime Institute’s Pacific Northwest operations, overseeing training delivery, facility management, and instructor support across Washington State. A retired U.S. Coast Guard officer with 20 years of service, he spent eight years underway on cutters as an engineer and law enforcement officer, followed by a career as a senior marine inspector and marine casualty investigator.

Brian holds an Associate’s degree in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies. In addition to his management role, he teaches Engineering, Basic Firefighting, and Advanced Firefighting courses, focusing on practical skills and real-world readiness for mariners entering or advancing in the industry.

Brian lives in Everett, Washington with his wife and children. When he’s not coaching soccer or restoring his 1978 sailboat, he’s usually tackling home improvement projects or finding new excuses to get out on the water.
