Dan Harrison, LCDR USN (Ret) joined Maritime Institute in 2015 after a 20 year US Navy career where as a Surface Warfare Officer, he held assignments in both deck and engineering roles. After retiring from the Navy, Dan spent six years as the Chief Engineer for a multi-national NATO drone fleet and is a qualified drone pilot.
Dan is Maritime Institute’s Honolulu, HI manager. He is qualified to instruct a wide variety of courses, though focuses most of his time in the engineering track, including Engine Room Management, Able Seafarer- Engine, Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch, High Voltage Safety, and Management of Electrical and Electronic Control Equipment. Additionally, Dan has been instrumental in helping to develop our Boater Education Series classes on Marine Electrical, Marine Diesel and Marine Outboard engines. In his free time, Dan enjoys biking, fishing, surfing, and flying radio controlled aircraft.
