Jawaan joined Maritime Institute in February 2023 as the Human Resources and Accounting assistant. He comes with over 5 years of experience in human resources and accounting after previously working in administration for Hampton Roads Regional Jail.

Jawaan was born in Williamston, NC and moved to Virginia Beach, VA as a small child where he was raised. He attended Old Dominion University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice as well as his associates degree in Psychology. He is also a mentor for Ground Zero Development in Chesapeake, VA. In his free time he enjoys reading, traveling, attending sporting events, going to his favorite local beach (Sandbridge) and fishing.
