Jesse Bastardo
Joined Maritime Institute in early part of 2023. He served in the U.S. Navy for 30 honorable years, and just retired October of 2021. His Naval background rating was a Gas Turbine Systems Technician “Electrical”, rising to the ranks of Master Chief. He served on board the USS Bunker Hill CG-52, USS Fife DD-991, USS Valley Forge CG-50, USS O’Brian DD-975, USS Cape St. George CG-71, and USS Lake Champlain CG-57.
He served two “Top Snipe” tours on his last two Sea Commands while earning four Engineering Officer of the watch (EOOW) letters and various other watch qualifications during his time at sea. His first shore Command was Enlisted Surface Warfare Training Group Pacific (EWTGPAC) where he certified as a Navy Instructor in 2005 and earned his Master Training specialist certification as a Master Instructor. He later served a second shore tour back at EWTGPAC as the Commands Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL); CMDCS. Jesse also served three Navy Individual Augmentee (IA) tours to Guantanamo Bay Cuba as a Military Police Officer in Camp Delta’s Military Detention Facility from 2005/06.
He also served at Camp Sabu/Harrison at the Military Detention Facility in Bagram Airforce Base, Afghanistan. He was also the Command Master Chief of “Covid 19 det” for Jacksonville Florida during the Covid pandemic.
Jesse is married to Rochelle Ramos of Chula Vista, Ca. They have two children, Christian (18) who is currently attending San Diego State University, and their daughter Sophia (15) who attends Olympian High School in Chula Vista.
