Kate came to Maritime Institute in 2025 from a career as an editor in the technology sector. She grew up with the computer industry and has developed, edited, and managed technical educational and marketing content for the world’s largest tech companies, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Oracle, and Dell Technologies. In her work with Microsoft Press, Kate was the developmental and substantive editor of the bestselling Step-By-Step series of books for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and more.
Kate draws on her background in editing software developer content, creating strategic marketing messaging for technical enterprises, and collaborating with subject matter experts to help Maritime Industry create up-to-date, well-organized, compelling student-facing materials. She is proud to bring her experience in content development to help Maritime Institute expand and solidify its reputation as a leading provider of professional maritime training in the United States.
Kate was raised in Indiana and went to Ball State University, graduating with a double major in English and Journalism. She has lived in the Seattle area since 1993 and has three grown children.
