Matthew K. Gallwas AS graduated from high school in 1988 and promptly enlisted in the US Navy. After completing Class A school as a Quartermaster he served for twenty years on various small craft and shore facilities. His most prominent tours included four years as a Combatant Crew Member on Mk-III Sea Specter Patrol Boats at Special Boat Unit Twelve, five years as Navigation Officer on board USS Monsoon PC-4 attached to Special Boat Squadron One, and four years as a Craftmaster of a Landing Craft Utility at Assault Craft Unit One. After retiring from active service, he completed his Associates in Science degree in Geographic Information Systems at San Diego Mesa College. Matthew started teaching at the Maritime Institute in 2010 where he taught course ranging from 100 Ton Master to 500 ton and 3rd Mate Unlimited, to include Celestial and Radar Observer Unlimited. After merging with Training Resources Limited he started teaching part time so he could pursue opportunities in Sailing Charters. Matthew currently holds a 100 Ton Masters license with Assistance Towing and Auxiliary Sail Endorsements.
