Richard Schwarzman, BMCS USN (Ret) joined Maritime Institute in November 2010 as an instructor after a 26 year career with the U.S. Navy. Richard is the instructor for Able Seafarer Deck, Able Seaman, Proficiency in survival craft / rescue boat and Rating Forming Part of Navigation Watch. Richard joined the Navy in 1984 and served on the following ships and commands ; USS Copeland (FFG-25) , USS Duluth (LPD-6), Instructor duty Underway Replenishment Fleet Training Center SD, Instructor duty Amphibious training, Naval Beach Group, USS Tarawa(LHA-1 LCPO E-7 Deck department, Instructor duty 7 Meter RIB School LCPO E-8, USS Thach (FFG43) LCPO E-8 retired November 2010. When Richard is not teaching he enjoys his hobbies relaxing while rock crawling in Baja, and motorcycles. Richard has two sons Tony and Aaron.
