BOATER 102: BOAT CONTROL
Our on the water powerboat training, held in beautiful San Diego, provides hands-on boating skills needed to boat safely and confidently.
Whether you are completely new to boating or looking to brush up on your skills, Boater U’s NASBLA approved, on the water control course covers essential, close-quarter, boat-handling skills including steering controls, shifting gears, stopping under control, basic maneuvering, safe docking and departing, and boat handling in wind and current. There is no substitute for the knowledge gained from actual hands on powerboat handling experience. Our powerboat training course teaches through study, observation and hands on experience while under the instruction of a USCG Licensed Captain with many years of practical experience and knowledge.
This on the water training course will teach all the basic skills of power boat operations, including:
- Pre-underway inspections
- Engine controls
- Maneuvering & docking in a marina
- Open water operations, low & high speed
- Man overboard retrieval
- Handling in wind & waves
This 16 hour course is taught over a weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 8am – 5pm. The course is taught using the National Safe Boating Council Curriculum and is NASBLA approved. This course is limited to 5 students. Most of this course will be conducted on our 20’ Williard Marine Fast Rescue Boat. Upon completion of this course, the student will receive a course certificate.
