GENERATOR AND MOTOR OPERATION/MAINTENANCE/TROUBLE SHOOTING AND REPAIRS

During this one week, 40 hour course students will be introduced and become familiar electrical subjects covering AC generator basics and the production of AC power including three phase power characteristics, Wye and Delta electrical connections and electrical characteristics including line voltage, current and phase relationships, single phase versus three phase power and how they are connected. 

 

Additionally, electronic frequency, phase relationship, Inductance, capacitance, power factor and the measurement of AC power using Root Mean Square (RMS) voltage are explained. Generator construction and cooling, how generators are excited, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), transient voltage and maintenance of generators and cabling including insulation resistance, circuit testing and continuity testing and the use of multimeters, megohmmeter (Megger), high voltage megger testing, clamp-on ammeter, and live line testers.

This is a non-USCG course of instruction to familiarize engineering students with electrical subjects.  CALL TO SCHEDULE
