RATING FORMING PART OF AN ENGINEERING WATCH (RFPEW)

USCG approved course, meets the requirements of Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch 46 Code of Federal Regulations 12.605 (CFR)

 

Assesses the person’s ability to meet the standards of competence prescribed NVIC 07-14 Guidelines for qualification for STCW endorsement as RFPEW

 

Intended for engine room personnel that meet the requirements of 46 CFR 12.103 and 12.609 requirements to qualify for an STCW endorsement as RFPEW to their MMD

 

Instructors are qualified personnel approved by the USCG. Each has practical experience and professional training in the disciplines described in the scope and objectives of the course. 

 

Any applicant who has successfully completed your Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch (RFPEW) (MARINS-417) course will satisfy: The training requirements of 46 CFR 12.609(a)(2)(ii); AND The standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.609(a)(2)(iii); STCW Code Section A-III/4 and Table A-III/4 as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 07-14(Ch-5); All tasks. Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present completed "Task Control Sheets" for these assessments in application for STCW Certification. Applicants using this approval to apply for endorsement as RFPEW must also: Document at least 60 days of seagoing service that involves experience associated with engine room functions, and involves the performance of duties carried out under the supervision of an engineer officer or a qualified STCW rating.
