TRAIN THE TRAINER

Our Training the Trainer Course is designed to facilitate the delivery of training in the competence standards required by the IMO Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended (STCW). It will also provide a sound basis for the delivery of other training programs. 

 

Since the course is relatively short it cannot provide a full course of teacher training. However, it should provide a useful introduction for those with limited teaching experience. For those who have been teaching for some time, the course may introduce some new approaches or serve as a reminder of techniques that have been forgotten. 

 

Objectives 

The objectives of this course include the planning and preparation of effective teaching and instruction; the selection of appropriate methods 

 

Any applicant who has successfully completed your Train the Trainer (MARINS-597) course will satisfy: The training in effective instructional techniques and assessment techniques requirements of 46 CFR 10.402(b)(2)(iii)(A), 10.405(a)(1), and 10.405(d); AND The training in effective instructional techniques and assessment techniques requirements of STCW Code Section A-I/6, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 03-14(Ch-1) Enclosure (2) for Qualified Instructors; AND The training in assessment techniques requirements of STCW Code Section A-I/6, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 19-14(Ch-3) for Qualified Assessors.
