Course Description

This course is designed to train Merchant Mariners and Naval personnel from entry level to management level on the fundamentals of Damage Control. This training covers, plugging, patching, shoring, and dewatering. It also includes the operation, maintenance and inspection of typical watertight closures found onboard ship to include scuttles, individual dog hatches and doors, Quick Acting Watertight Doors (QAWTD) and hatches. Additionally, this course will enable the participants to be able to recognize maintenance and repair issues with watertight enclosures and determine the proper course of corrective action.

This course is comprised of training on the fundamentals of damage control. Topics covered are plugging patching, shoring and dewatering. In addition, the operation, maintenance, and inspection of typical watertight closures onboard vessels to include scuttles, individual dog hatches, and doors, Quick Acting Watertight Doors (QAWTD) and hatches. Participants will also be able to identify maintenance and repair action issues and determine proper course of corrective action.
