Course Description
The Competence of Table A-II/2 – Operate Remote Controls of Propulsion Plant and Engineering Systems and Services of the STCW, as amended 2010, for Masters and Chief Mates on ships of 500 gross tons (ITC), or more, AND the Vessel Power Plants requirements of Table 2 to 46 CFR Table 11.910 for Master/Chief Mate, oceans/near coastal, unlimited tonnage; AND
The following specific Tasks from the following National Assessment Guidelines:
NVIC 10-14 Master/Chief Mate 3,000 GT or more: Tasks 10.1.A; 10.1.B; 10.1.C; 10.1.D; 10.2.A; 10.2.B; 10.2.C; 10.2.D; 10.2.F; 10.2.G; 10.2.H; 10.2.I; 10.2.J; 10.2.K; 10.3.A; and 10.3.B; AND
NVIC 11-14 Master/Chief Mate 500 GT or more and less than 3000 GT: Tasks 10.1.A; 10.1.C; 10.1.D; 10.2.A; 10.2.B; 10.2.C; 10.2.E, 10.2.F; 10.2.G; 10.2.H; 10.2.I, 10.2.J; 10.3.A; and 10.3.B; AND
NVIC 13-14 Master or Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch less than 500 GT Limited to Near Coastal Waters: Tasks 5.2.A; 5.2.B; 5.2.C; 5.2.D and 5.2.E.
Applicants who have successfully completed our course need not present completed “Task Control Sheets” for these assessments in application for STCW certification. This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements in Table A-II/2 of STCW as amended for the function Navigation at the management level on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage (ITC) Level. The objective of operating principles of marine power plants course is to provide students with a review of operating principles of marine power plants practices at the management level and in doing so, satisfy company, national, and international regulations for candidates for certification as master or chief mate as follows:
Table A-II/2 Specification of minimum standard of competence for masters and chief mates on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more.
