...This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency in Table A-II/1 as amended for the function Cargo Handling and Stowage at the Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage. This course will provide students with the detailed knowledge to support the training outcomes related to navigation at the operational level and in doing so satisfy company, national, and international regulations for candidates for certification as follows in accordance with Table A-II/1:

RECOMMENDED STUDY MATERIAL:Stability and Trim for the Ship’s Officer; Fourth Edition William E. George, Editor 2005. Merchant Marine Officers Hand Book. William B. Hayler, Editor Marine Cargo Operations, 3rd Edition Robert J. Meurn and Charles L. Sauerbier 2004.
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Cargo Handling & Stowage (Operational Level) (MARINS-100) course will satisfy: ⦁ The Cargo Handling and Stowage training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(x) for an STCW endorsement as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) for vessels of 500 GT (ITC) or more (Operational Level); AND ⦁ The Cargo Handling and Stowage standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.309(a)(3) and 11.319(a)(3); STCW Code Section A-II/1 and Table A-II/1, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from: ⦁ NVIC 12-14(Ch-7) Tasks 10.2, 10.3.A, 11.1, 11.2, 11.4.A, 11.5, 11.6, and 11.7; AND ⦁ NVIC 02-18(Ch-5) Tasks 10.2.A, 10.3.A, 11.1.A, 11.2.A, 11.3.A, 11.4.A, 11.5.A, and 11.6.A; AND ⦁ The Cargo Handling and Stowage standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.317(a)(2) and 11.321(a)(2); STCW Code Section A-II/3 and Table A-II/3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 13-14(Ch-5) Tasks 6.1.A and 6.1.B. Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present completed “Task Control Sheets” for these assessments in application for STCW certification.
