...The Aluminum MIG and TIG Welding course is for the welder who is already proficient with one or several welding processes and equipment (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW), but needs or desires to expand their skill set to be proficient in the various aluminum welding processes. ALUMINUM MIG & TIG WELDING WILL COVER: This course is an intensive hands-on course that will cover: A – Basic Metallurgy of Aluminum including base metals, filler materials and shielding gases. B – Equipment requirements and set up for Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding processes. C – Multi-position welds; Flat, Horizontal and Vertical. D – Weld joints; Butt including single and double groove, Lap, and Fillet. E – Weld Joint preparation. F – Weld Joint testing The material used (coupons) in this course is 5086-H111 Aluminum that complies with ASTM B221 and is commonly used in the maritime shipbuilding industry and all filler material will be 5356 Aluminum Schedule J.
