GLOBAL MARITIME DISTRESS AND SAFETY SYSTEM (GMDSS)

Course Description
This course is required for officers who serve on vessels equipped with GMDSS equipment. The GMDSS course prepares the student for and administers the taking of Element 7 exam.
Students successfully completing this course will be able to efficiently operate the GMDSS equipment, and be able to assume primary responsibility for operation of the Distress equipment during an incident.

Class Requirements
Completing and passing our GMDSS course will earn you the GMDSS Radio Operator's License.
Training Certificate of Completion
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) (MARINS-210) course will satisfy: The GMDSS training requirements of 46 CFR 11.305(a)(3)(viii), 11.307(a)(3)(viii), 11.309(a)(4)(xv), 11.311(a)(3)(ix), 11.313(a)(3)(ix), 11.315(a)(3)(vi), 11.319(a)(4)(ix) and 11.604; AND The GMDSS standards of competence required by STCW Code Section A-IV/2 and Table A-IV/2, as amended 2010.
