PROFICIENCY IN SURVIVAL CRAFT REFRESHER

Course Description
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to take charge of the preparation, embarkation, launching, and recovery of survival craft and be able to manage a boat under oars, or motor and take charge of an inflatable life raft. The course lessons will include but not be limited to:
Principles of Survival
Evacuations
Survival Craft and Rescue Boats
Actions to be Taken Aboard a Survival Craft
Practical Assessments (Lifeboat Operations)
Launching and Recovering Rescue Boat
Shipboard Davit Systems
Class Requirements
Training Certificate of Completion
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher (MARINS-749) course will satisfy: The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) continued standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.613(b)(4) and the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats- Limited (PSC-Limited) continued standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.615(b)(4) for mariners who have previously held a PSC/PSC-Limited endorsement under STCW Code Section A-VI/2 but cannot meet the requirement for 1 year of sea service in last 5 years; STCW Code Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-1, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 04-14(Ch-2); AND PROVIDED this training was completed within one year of the date of application, The practical demonstration requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsement as Lifeboatman or 46 CFR 12.409(b)(3) for endorsement as Lifeboatman-Limited; AND The refresher training course requirement of 46 CFR 10.227(e)(1)(iii) for renewal of an endorsement as Lifeboatman or Lifeboatman-Limited for mariners who cannot meet the requirement for 1 year of sea service in last 5 years. Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present completed “Task Control Sheets” for these assessments in application for STCW certification. The sea service requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(2) and 12.409(b)(2), and the written examination requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) and 12.409(b)(3) for original endorsement as Lifeboatman or Lifeboatman-Limited must be met and are not part of this approval.
